Figurine féminine tau

Female figurine tau

This female statuette is one in a series produced during the Mycenaean period in conjunction with funerary or religious rites. The form is fairly original, with a long robe, usually expansive bust line, tapered neck, and flat-topped section on the head. The traces of paint, in the form of vertical brown strokes, are typical, and can be found on many other Psi- or Phi-type statuettes.
