Figures féminines assises de type violon

Sitting violin-shaped female figures

The statuette on the right displays a more feminine appearance. The upper torso is much thinner than the lower part and the general outline is round. Quite small, the cephalic stem has a rounded top and the flat body edges seem to be punched out.

To my knowledge, the circular grooves on the neck as well as the arched incisions – suggesting breasts –, that extend the shoulder curves and the upper part of the arms on the body, are one of a kind, even though a plain violin type idol from Despotiko presents a very similar shape [1].
